Star trails over the famous Mueller Hut

One can see some star trails over the iconic Mueller Hut. Thereby, several images are added together to get such a lovely image. I think it is one of the best ways to illustrate the rotation of the earth within one image.

The Mueller Hut is a very popular hut in the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. One can find the hut near Aoraki/Mount Cook, which is with, 3724 m in height, the highest mountain in New Zealand. The track to the hut is relatively easy, and one can reach the top within 3 hours. On top, one will be rewarded with a fantastic view of the national park along the prominent Mount Cook.

In February 2023, we visited this gorgeous area of New Zealand and found perfect weather conditions on the 25 February, where we planned to do the Mueller Hut track and spend one night up there. Unfortunately, the hut was already booked out (so if you plan to stay on the hut, make a reservation as soon as possible), so we chose to tent near the hut and use the facilities for 10NZD. The weather forecast was perfectly correct, so it was icy cold yet a perfect night to take pictures of the night sky...
