The Milky Way from the Lion Rock to the Blue Pool at Piha Beach

Piha is one of the most gorgeous black-sand beaches on the rugged coast west of Auckland. It provides many incredible walks, and it is a perfect place for surfers. Thereby, the beach gets a special touch due to the high and nicely formed rock called: The Lion. Moreover, one can find very scenery places just a few walk-minutes away. Like The Blue Pool which is a breathtaking cove filled with freh blue water from the ocean.

So back in October we had the amazing possibility to visit this place and shoot the night sky. With some very bad weather in the beginning, the wait was totally worth it. We could shoot this amazing panorama of the Milky Way rising from the right over the rock "The Lion" to the left and settling over The Blue Pool.
